Every Tuesday and Sunday with Cook Dordogne cookery school

We are delighted to offer culinary courses, market tours, food demonstrations throughout the year in partnership with the highly acclaimed CookDordogne in Saint-Cyprien.

These culinary experiences take place at the Cookery school at Le Chevrefeuille which has been offering courses and market tours of the gorgeous regional ingredients since 2004.

 

Ian, owner of CookDordogne and your tutor, trained as a chef at Le Talbooth restaurant in Essex, England and has a real passion for food. This was one of the deciding factors in moving his family to the Dordogne, which is renowned as the gastronomic capital of France.

The Perigord Noir is famous for its foie gras, truffles, confit de canard, walnuts, geese, magret de canard, cabecou goat cheese, cepes, sanglier, venison, escargot, etc.

We offer one day regional cookery courses every Tuesday and Sunday

The one day course consists of a guided market visit at Le Bugue or Saint-Cyprien market from 9.30am to 11am approx, returning to Le Chevrefeuille with regional ingredients to cook and taste until 4pm.

 

The day begins at 8am with the participants meeting each other over coffee, leaving for the market at Le Bugue or Saint-Cyprien at 8h15.

The local markets are bursting with ingredients and inspiration and Le Bugue/Saint-Cyprien market is no exception. Whilst there, you will have the opportunity to visit various stalls with Ian explaining the vast array of produce and sharing his experience and knowledge.

We offer the market visit without the cookery course to partners or others who are interested.

 

During the one day course, students arrive back at the house with the ingredients chosen by the group and start to prepare a three course menu. The first course is served at around 1pm. Then you will prepare and cook the following course, eat and then prepare a desert.

Its a cook, eat, cook, eat experience all afternoon until 4pm. Its totally hands on. You prepare and cook at your own work stations under the guidance of Ian in teams of 4.

Tariff and information

Tariff is 150 euros per day for the cookery course, all inclusive.

We offer half day regional cooking courses every Thursday

Our half day cooking course is an unique opportunity for people of all ages to participate in a fun experience, preparing a two course regional lunch menu to be enjoyed at the end of the morning. It is an ideal course for families and friends who want to do a fun activity together which is interesting and informative.

 

Kicking off at 10am so as to not scare off budding teenage chefs, this cookery course begins with interesting and amusing introductions to the ingredients for which the Dordogne is famous. A hands-on session preparing, cooking and tasting a range of delicious, exciting and surprisingly simple dishes which chefs, of all ages, can recreate at home.

 

All participants leave with a recipe e-book and all junior chefs, a CookDordogne Junior Chef Certificate of Participation. Parents and guardians leave smug in the knowledge that the kids can now help out in the kitchen!

Tariff and information

Tariff is 50 euros per person, family rate, 75 euros per adult.
